Shining a Light on Brain Injury: March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the causes, effects, and treatments of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). TBIs can occur from a variety of causes, including sports injuries, car accidents, falls, and violence.

Symptoms of a TBI can range from mild to severe, and may include headache, dizziness, confusion, memory loss, and difficulty speaking or moving. It's important to seek medical attention immediately if you suspect a TBI.

During Brain Injury Awareness Month, organizations and individuals work to increase awareness of TBIs, as well as educate people on how to prevent them. Some prevention tips include wearing appropriate safety gear during sports, wearing seatbelts while driving, and taking steps to prevent falls in older adults.

Support for those with TBIs and their families is also a key focus during Brain Injury Awareness Month. Resources such as support groups, counseling, and rehabilitation services can help those affected by TBIs to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

By spreading awareness and supporting those affected by TBIs, we can work together to prevent these injuries and improve outcomes for those who have experienced them.
